Old Spanish Trail Afternoon History, Geology and Nature Hike

Monday, Jan 7, 2013 1:00p

Join geologist Nick S. and naturalist Leah D. on a moderate hike along the Old Spanish Trail. The Old Spanish Trail, 1829-1848, was a trading route established when Nevada was part of Mexico, and went from Santa Fe to Los Angeles. Capt. John C. Fremont and Kit Carson rode the trail in 1844. We will also see a Tertiary landslide deposit and will discuss the geology, plants and animals encountered along the trail. Moderate, 3 miles. Ages 10+. Limited space/registration required.
